On 15 April, the Fundação Cidade de Lisboa (FCL) celebrated three and a half decades of commitment and activity in the service of the city and its people. The occasion was marked by a commemorative event that brought together friends and partners of the institution over the years, chaired by the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, alongside Professor António Carmona Rodrigues, Chairman of the FCL Board of Directors, and Ambassador Eugénio Anacoreta Correia, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

One of the most significant moments of the event was the presentation and distribution of the commemorative book honouring Álvaro Pinto Correia, former president of the FCL, entitled ‘Momentos e Eventos’, which recounts the key moments of his career linked to the foundation. The book includes the speech by the President of the Republic, General António Ramalho Eanes, amongst others. A commemorative book marking the 35th anniversary of the Fundação Cidade de Lisboa was also launched and distributed, highlighting the various activities carried out across the institution’s different areas of work.

The ceremony also included a tribute to the three longest-standing patrons of the Colégio Universitário da Cooperação-Nuno Krus Abecasis (CUC-NKA), who have supported the project continuously since 1990. In recognition of this, each was presented with a silkscreen print by the curator, Manuel Cargaleiro, accompanied by sincere thanks. The patrons honoured were the Bank of Portugal, represented by the Governor, Professor Mário Centeno, Lusitânia Seguros, represented by Dr Idália Serrão, a member of the Board of Directors, and the Nabeiro Group.

The event also featured significant testimonials, such as that of former CUC-NKA scholarship holder Dr Martinho Nombo, and a speech by Dr Nuno Krus Abecasis, son of Engineer Nuno Krus Abecasis, the institution’s founder.

The session took place at the FCL headquarters, located in Campo Grande, where a commemorative plaque was unveiled to mark 35 years of dedication. In addition, an exhibition entitled “35 years – 35 moments of the FCL” was presented, depicting the most significant milestones in the foundation’s history over the decades.
